Romano Molenaar kennen we van strips als Storm en Roodhaar, maar hij heeft ook succes gehad in de Amerikaanse comicsindustrie. Zo tekende hij onder andere Birds of Prey voor DC Comics. Op zijn instagram-account kwam ik een fantastische Spider-Man-illustratie van hem tegen die ik hier graag laat zien.

This week I edited a little celebration of the Hobgoblin. To this day he’s still one of my favorite Spider-Man villains. I was there as a young reader when the character was first introduced by Roger Stern and John Romita Jr. They made a great two part story in which we see how an unknown guy gets the old equipment of the Green Goblin and modifies everything to become the Hobgoblin. His outfit would look great on any halloweenparty . For the longest time they kept the readers in the dark about Hobgoblin’s true identity. Comics back then were a lot of fun.
I think my 10 year old self would’ve loved the video. In fact, 43 year old me is pretty pleased with it as well.
To this day The Hobgoblin remains one of my favorite Spider-Man villains of all time. Because it’s almost Halloween, I felt like making this little video about Hobgoblin.

One of the comments I got on the last video I did on Todd McFarlane’s artwork lead to an interesting discovery about one of his Spider-Man illustrations. Also in this episode a close look at Web of Spider-Man Annual 4 (1988), which has a cool year in review of Spider-Man’s life.
Deze vlog bestaat uit een opname die in de vorige niet meer paste. Ik vond het fragment echter interessant genoeg om een aparte vlog van te maken. Strips verzamelen vraagt immers om geduld hebben totdat je dat ene ontbrekende album of comic kan vinden.
