Shoes looking for their owner

While taking a stroll in downtown Amsterdam, I came across this pair of shoes. Did the owner suddenly abandon them or is this a rare case of spontaneous combusting?

dat vind ik altijd van die situaties of beelden waar ik verhalen van kan schrijven of bedenk wat er met die schoenen is gebeurd, van wie ze dan zijn en waarom staan ze daar en niet thuis. …

@Karin r.: Zoiets roept inderdaad een hoop vragen op. Ik denk dat een zwerver er nu mee rondloopt, maar hoe ze daar gekomen zijn?
